Hi all. I'd like to give you my firsthand experience with my recent training with Delta Defense Training in Greenwood, MS. No, I'm not a paid spokesman (!!) but I'd simply like to share my experience with the hope of helping others looking for either beginning or advanced training.

I attended a custom designed Delta Defense Training Advanced Shooting Course. This course was designed to challenge not only my shooting abilities but some long-held preconceptions about various tactical situations. I found the training to be very challenging from both a tactical and a shooting standpoint. It was a one day course from 0900-1800, and I shot 1000 rounds with my Rock River Elite Carry .45acp. Another shooter with a Glock 19 shot well over that amount in the one day; I'd estimate he shot about 1400 rounds. This was a no-kidding, non-stop intensive advanced shooting course designed to push us to our limits and then some.

I have attended numerous civilian and non-civilian training courses. Without a doubt owners/lead instructors Lee Wall and his partner Hal Williams provide some of the best training that I have ever received. Lee is patient and very thorough, and yet he will push you to be the absolutely best shooter that is possible. Lee brings years of championship and tactical experience to his clients and his teaching ability is second to none.

Like many advanced shooting students, I have learned specific methods to perform particular tasks. Lee may have a different way of performing the task, and he will show his student the different way and ask the student to try his method. However, unlike some shooting schools Lee does not utilize the 'my way or the highway' attitude; instead he presents the options to the student and (as long as safety is not compromised) allows the student to decide. This is the mark of a confident, professional instructor.

Besides the high speed, low drag course that we did, Delta Defense also offers training for beginners.

I also shot with Lee's partner, Hal, and I will tell you that Hal is of the same mindset. Beginner or experienced shooter, Lee and Hal offer exceptionally challenging, professional, terrific instruction that cannot be surpassed. I look forward to each training experience I have with Delta Defense Tactical and highly recommend their training. I plan on returning as soon as possible for even more training.

Again, I hope this helps someone looking for some really good training.

An Outstanding Day of Training!

I made the drive from my home near Memphis, TN to Greenwood to train with Lee and Hal. It was worth every mile, many times over. I have been a "shooter" since a very young age and have received handgun training in the past from different agencies covering everything from marksmanship to home and self-defense tactics. I had obtained my first 1911 handgun and wanted some instruction on the proper care and feeding of my new weapon. Did I ever come to the right place!

Within a very few minutes of my arrival Lee had made an assessment of my handgun (nice), and of me (needs work). Before lunch Lee and Hal had put onto practice an effective correction for my cross-dominant vision, they had completely overhauled my awkward stance and had given me a grip on the weapon that was much more solid and stable than my old one and one that took advantage of the 1911 format. Their adaptable range setup made practicing my new skills with multiple targets, moving in and out, left and right quick, easy and very effective. We shot a lot of rounds at a nice, comfortable pace. Every drill had a purpose and built upon the preceding ones.

Lee and Hal are not only very accomplished marksmen, but they are also extremely skilled instructors and coaches. We covered a lot of ground and made a lot of corrections to the way I handled my firearm. I was always treated with the greatest respect and cheerful courteous encouragement. I was challenged, but always in a relaxed and comfortable environment. I will be back!

Deputy Mike Cowan
Desoto Co. Sheriff's Dept. SWAT

I got the opportunity to meet Lee Wall during a separate firearms training course, and he invited me to train with him at his facility.

As a firearms instructor and SWAT officer, I was eager to see what Lee had to offer. What I found was excellent.

Lee instructs from a well thought-out curriculum, and his easy manner and thorough instruction allow students to advance rapidly from one stage of training to the next. New shooters and those without formal instruction stand to gain confidence and the skill sets necessary to carry and use a firearm. However, there is no question in my mind that even the most seasoned shooter among us can improve by training with Delta Defense.

I'm already looking forward to my next training session...

Officer Christopher Park
Special Response Team, Brandon (MS) Police Dept.

As a certified law enforcement officer and SWAT operator, I was sure I had the best combat handgun training available. I was wrong. It took less than five minutes with Mr. Wall for me to realize that their was a vast amount of knowledge I lacked. Mr. Wall was able to identify my weaknesses almost immediately, and help me transform those traits into strengths. The course helped me to utilize my weapon system as an extension of myself, increase my on-target response and incorporate mobile shooting platform/moving target coordination. At the completion of Mr. Wall's course, I was confident in my ability to engage multiple targets, get my rounds down range with increased speed and accuracy, and generally insure that I go home and the bad guys don't. I highly recommend this course, not only for military or LEO operators, but for anyone who owns/carries a handgun for self-defense.

LaDonna - Mississippi

Hi, my name is LaDonna and I am a handgun shooter.

Two years ago I had barely held a firearm, much less shot one. My father was an avid hunter and I grew up in an armed household but was afraid of guns. Some of our Red Hat ladies decided we wanted to learn to shoot, for safety and protection purposes. We engaged Lee Wall to teach us ALL we needed to learn about handguns.

We had over 5 hours of classroom study before ever shooting a handgun. We learned the basics of different handguns, protection using handguns, but more importantly the safety in responsible handgun ownership.

I have shot over 5,000 rounds in the two years I have been shooting and continue to shoot as time permits. I have also begun a more advanced course to possibly pursue competitive shooting.

Mr. Wall and Mr. Williams are excellent instructors and very professional. I cannot recommend Mr. Wall and Mr. Williams highly enough for their teaching me what I wanted to learn and much more.

Before I started handgun training I thought it would be a good thing for a single woman to know how to do. I didn't realize how much fun it would be or how deadly serious it is. Now that I have gone through the training with Lee, I feel an added sense of confidence and responsibility. I now own three handguns and know how to handle and shoot them safely and accurately. I have a Firearms Permit. I would highly recommend Lee and Hal and let me tell you to what extent--I drive 250 miles one-way to take lessons and shoot with them.

This just happened to me on the most recent return trip from shooting with them. A law enforcement road block was stopping cars to check driver's licenses and insurance. Since I always travel with my gun between my seat and the console, I also got out my Firearms Permit. When the officer checked me he said that I was the smartest woman who had come through the roadblock because I was the only one with protection.
